M. Alexandra Sumerlin, DVM

Dr. M. Alexandra Sumerlin

Dr. M. Alexandra Sumerlin opened The Orlando Cat Hospital in 1992. Dr. Sumerlin grew up in Missouri and has cared for pets for almost three decades. She attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, and received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1978. She continued her veterinary education at the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. She has always had an interest in feline medicine, and her other professional interests include geriatric medicine, internal medicine and surgery.

Dr. Sumerlin shares her home with her four faithful feline friends, Silver, Skylar, Aja and Lexie. Her animal companions also include a Sheltie named Emmie and a canary named Tibbett.

Mary Gray, DVM

Dr. Gray grew up in Wisconsin and is a die-hard cheese head. She received a bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. She then obtained a Masters degree in Animal science and her veterinary degree at Purdue University. She taught anatomy and physiology at Purdue prior to purchasing the Greater Lafayette Cat Hospital. She owned and operated this feline exclusive hospital for 13 years. While she enjoys all aspects of feline medicine, she has a special interest in surgery, dermatology, and geriatrics.

Dr. Gray has two lovely daughters who are the light of her life. She is kept company at home by Corey, a mini wire- haired dachshund, Oreo, a tuxedo cat, and the vocal Siamese, Hot Shot.

In her free time, Dr. Gray enjoys reading, quilting, tennis, and exploring the real Florida.

Melanie Santiago, DVM

Dr. Melanie Santiago completed her veterinary education at the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine, were she was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Her externship was focused on feline medicine. Growing up in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, Dr. Santiago received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez.

Dr. Santiago’s professional interests include all aspects of feline medicine and surgery, particularly internal medicine and endocrine diseases. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practioners, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

When not in the hospital, Dr. Santiago enjoys relaxing with loved ones. She shares her home with two beautiful brown tabbies, Scribbles and Leia. She also makes time to visit her family and lifelong kitty companion, Lexus, back home in Puerto Rico.
